Read Relationally

Psalm 27:4 is my life verse “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” The living Word of God is the “without which” I don’t start the day.  I love reading the Word first thing, but honestly I have to fight off the news and emails to keep my priority focused on hearing my Beloved’s voice first thing in the morning.

I have a true confession. I had gotten slack about journaling interactively with the One who spoke the Scriptures and speaks revelation, understanding, and intimacy. So I was just reading the Bible. It was good, butit was not the best.  God reminded me to “read relationally.” I mean to read interactively and to write down what God was saying to me, what I was asking or saying to Him, and how God responded. The Scripture began to pop off the page into my spirit! Yes, it takes longer, but it is also deeper and more personal. This is responsive reading of the best kind. God is relational.  Even in His identity He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in perfect relationship as one.  He longs for each of us to enjoy fellowship with Him. May you be blesses as you read relationally with the Author who loves you dearly.
